Wildlife You May Encounter

Dolphins

The Indian River Lagoon is home to over 1,000 Atlantic Bottlenose Dolphins, most of which are year-round residents. You’ll often spot them swimming in family pods, foraging through the canals and mangrove-lined waters.

Bottlenose dolphins in the Indian River Lagoon rarely leave their home waters — they're true locals!

Manatees can eat up to 150 pounds of seagrass a day — they're the vegetarians of the sea!

Manatees

Up to 4,000 gentle Manatees inhabit these waterways during the warmer months, often seen cruising alongside our boats. In winter, they migrate to natural warm springs.

Birds & More

Spot Bald Eagles, Osprey, Brown Pelicans, and even Diamondback Terrapins. The Banana River supports the largest Brown Pelican rookery on the Atlantic Coast and offers spectacular birdwatching opportunities year-round.

What Are the Thousand Islands?

A protected cluster of mangrove islands in Cocoa Beach’s Banana River (part of the Indian River Lagoon), this shallow maze of natural canals is calm, scenic, and packed with wildlife—dolphins, manatees, and coastal birds.

Catch the Sunset in Style

Experience the golden hour from the best seat in the house — the middle of the Banana River. Our 90 minute Sunset Cruise offers everything you love about our wildlife tours, with the bonus of watching the sun melt into the water.

Departing in the early evening, this tour still winds through the Thousand Islands for dolphin and bird sightings, then opens up into wide river views for breathtaking photo ops. Whether you’re celebrating something special or just want to end your day with a view, this is the cruise to remember.
